Installation Guide

How to Prepare Your Wall

Preparing the installation surface is most important. A poorly prepared wall can harm the adherence and durability of LONGKING Tiles.
The surface must be cleaned before starting the installation. However if you have a wall that is not recommended, you need some work to do.

Cleaning the Wall Before Installing

Clean the surface with a powerful GREASE-REMOVER such as TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate). Make sure that you allow enough time for the surface to dry properly.
For optimal adhesiveness, you can also gently scrub painted surfaces using a soft sandpaper to remove the oily or glossy layer of the paint to make the surface a little rough.

For jagged edge designs only, which has "Overlap Here" words on the tile, please do it as below:

Wall & Tile Temperature

The temperature of the wall and tiles should be at least about 70°F for 12 hours before installation and 24 hours after installation. This is very important because if wall and tiles are cold, the tiles will not stick well. During the winter, the wall temperature is usually lower than room temperature so make sure that your walls are warm.

Press All Grout Lines Firmly

Make sure you press ALL grout lines firmly, and try NOT to touch the adhesive side as much as you can.

Recommended Surface

smooth ceramic tiles backsplash, smooth glass tiles backsplash, wall panel (acrylic), wall linoleum, mirror, wallpaper (if some corners are peeling, just peel them off and install LONGKING Tiles over them).

Non-Recommended Surface

Orange peel texture wall, oily wall, brick wall, stucco wall, stone wall, unfinished wall (gypsum or plaster), unpainted plywood.

Primer and Paint Advice

Primer

Primer helps make unfinished surfaces like gypsum, plaster and plywood uniform. When primer is applied, it is very important to wait until it is cured before you begin installing the Tiles. Primer takes at least 72 hours to completely dry.

You can use any type of primer with Longking Tiles, except for Zinsser. Some chemical components of this primer may harm the adherence of the tiles. Avoid this one and your tiles will stick on your wall for as long as you want them to.

Paint

If you prefer to paint your wall, you have to put a primer before the paint. In addition, you should wait until the paint is completely dry, at least 21 days, before installing the tiles.

Aura, the interior paint from Benjamin Moore, is the only one that could harm the adherence of the Longking Tiles. So, it’s advisable to use another paint product to cover your wall.
